Child marriage is a violation of child rights, and has a negative impact on physical growth, health, mental and emotional development, and education opportunities. While regional disparities exist, child marriage has significantly decreased from 47 per cent (2006) to 29 percent (2017). It also affects society as a whole since child marriage reinforces a cycle of poverty and perpetuates gender discrimination, illiteracy and malnutrition as well as high infant and maternal mortality rates. Child marriage affects almost all facets of reaching the Millennium Development Goals. Mean time our organization made aware on the evils of child marriage, and female foeticide that, occurs in large numbers in the district. According to Census 2011, 85,000 marriages for girl children less than 14 years, and 2.65 lakh marriages for girl children less than 18 years have taken place in the State. A Child marriage pose a great risk for the child, both physically and mentally, and in turn affects society. Due to various reasons, child marriages still occur in the district and only by creating awareness among the parents can stop it.
To stop the child marriages our organization undertaken awareness program with the inclusion of college students through distribution of leaflets, slogans and flex banners.
